Smile

Have you seen our invitations to the Sacred Feminine Touch Virtual Coffee Chats? or our Online Lunch with Friends? Maybe Happy Hour is a welcome respite to the week?

Recently a few ladies at our Virtual Cafe were considering the positives we are finding at this chaotic time. Amidst all the uncertainty coming at us from every angle I thought it would be opportune to shine some light.

One member shared how very special it is to be able to connect with each other online. We are part of a kindred spirit community. Being able to spend some time with amazing and like-minded ladies certainly lifts the spirit and helps us realise we are not alone. Being able to have a laugh at ourselves and share some love is an additional joy.

Another member was talking about new hobbies she is taking up, Learning to play the ukulele and studying Italian while spending more time at home.

And another was talking about writing the book she’s been wanting to write but hasn’t had the time before now.

Then there was talk about getting off the relentless hamster wheel of life and spending time ‘being’ rather than ‘doing’. After all, we are human ‘beings’, not human ‘doings’.

It is a perfect time to take stock of our choices and priorities. What is important to you? Take some time to nurture yourself, and your family. Give yourself permission to do the things that call to your heart.

It can also be a time to explore our spirituality and how we live our truth. A 10 minute daily meditation practice could be something you have struggled to establish in a busy schedule. Why not join us for the next Online Sound Meditation or the Full Moon meditation?

I look forward to connecting with all of you through Zoom Coffee Chats and other virtual events so we can laugh and share some more.

I grew up with this poem, and feel its significance in the current turmoil.

A smile costs nothing, but gives so much.

It enriches those who receive it without making poorer those who give it.

It takes but a moment, but the memory can last forever.

None is so rich or mighty that they can get along without it, and no one so poor that they cannot be made rich by it.

A smile creates happiness in the home, fosters goodwill in business and is the countersign of friendship.

It brings rest to the weary, cheerfulness to the discouraged, sunshine to the sad, and it is nature’s best antidote in times of trouble.

Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed or stolen, for it is something that is of no value to anyone unless it is given away.

Some people are too tired to give you a smile.

Give them one of yours, As no one needs a smile so much as those who have no more to give.
